FUNAAB —The Vice-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Prof. Olusola Oyewole and Pro-Chancellor of the institution, Senator Adeseye Ogunlewe have spent three days in Ibara Prisons following their failure to perfect their bail conditions.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission had on Friday arraigned Oyewole ,Ogunlewe and the Bursar of the institution Moses Ilesanmi before an Ogun State High court sitting in Abeokuta on an 18-count charge bothering on stealing and fraudulent conversion of the institution’s funds . The trial Judge, Justice O.O Majekodunmi who could not hear the bail application of Ilesanmi since the counsel failed to perfect the bail application, had remanded him in the EFCC custody pending the determination of the matter today. He however granted Ogunlewe and Oyewole bail in the sum of N50 million each and two sureties in like sum.
The judge, who insisted that the two sureties must be owners of landed properties within the judicial division of the court and deposit their title documents with the court. She also ordered that the sureties must be on a minimum of grade level 15 with the Ogun civil service and also deposit their international passports with the court. Majekodunmi also ordered that Ogunlewe and Oyewole be remanded in prison custody pending perfection of the bail terms. Immediately, the court rose, the family members of Ogunlewe and Oyewole made frantic efforts to get the sureties but, could not which prompted the prison officials to whisk them away to Ibara prison. Vanguard exclusively gathered that the duo were still being remanded in the prison by yesterday evening. It was gathered that the family and church members of the embattled VC who thronged the state High court on Friday betrayed emotion went dawned on them that the VC would pass some nights in the prisons. 

Meanwhile, the three whistle blowers and 10 executive members of the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, FUNAAB chapter have dragged the VC and Ogunlewe to the National Industrial Court in Ibadan over their sack. Those sacked include Lasun Somoye, Abdusalaam Sobbor and E.A. Bankole.The trio were said to have written a petition against the management of the institution to the anti graft agency which it relied upon to charge the Vice – Chancellor and others to court . Others relieved of their jobs include three medical doctors – Dr Ajayi A.O., Dr Olaniran I.O. and Dr O.O. Salami, two health workers – Mr Oyero, a laboratory scientist and Miss K.O. Adeyemi, a medical record officer. 

The affected were said to have filed a case against the FUNAAB management led by Ogunlewe and Oyewole. Vanguard gathered that he matter will be heard today. It was also gathered that the Governing Council was divided into two over the legality of the sacking of about 23 staff by the management.
